The Chicago Park District is proud to present Jefferson Memorial Park’s very own historic City Wide Symphony Orchestra in their 77th Season for a Holiday Concert at the Copernicus Center!

Founded in 1947, The City Wide Symphony Orchestra is an all volunteer community orchestra that provides an opportunity for talented Chicago area musicians of all ages to perform in a semi-professional orchestra through a variety of concerts and programs throughout the year that contribute to the cultural life of the community.

The City Wide Symphony Orchestra is dedicated to nurturing, facilitating, and promoting a community appreciation for symphonic music and the support of music as a lifelong avocation.

The Chicago City Wide Symphony Orchestra’s repertoire maintains a studied selection of serious and challenging classical works, accessible classic and light classic genre, uniquely American pieces, and less well known orchestral music deserving of a hearing by modern artists and audiences.

This December, music lovers of all ages will be delighted by a program filled with Holiday favorites including Leroy Anderson’s Sleigh Ride, and Christmas Festival, The Blue Danube Waltz by the Austrian composer Johann Strauss II, Babes in Toyland by composer Victor Herbert, and selections from Tchaikovsky’s The Nutcracker Suite, as well as the Chicago premier of Lights On!- A Hanukkah Celebration!  By Russell Steinberg. These selections mixed along with others will provide an evening of festiveness that will enlighten your holiday spirit.

The City Wide Symphony Orchestra is thrilled to be part of your family’s 2023 holiday traditions that will hopefully continue for years to come. This performance is sure to bring joy, excitement and musical merriment to the whole family.
