Free Event – 2/10/2015 → 6 to 9 pm @ Copernicus
Seventy-five years after Stalin’s mass deportations of Polish citizens to Siberia, we gather to commemorate the spirit of our Polish comrades and to honor those who have passed. Join us for a memorable evening of grace, honor and inspiration, which begins with a candlelight vigil, and will include prayer, performance and words to honor the fate that befell nearly 2 million Polish people.
6-6:20pm: Gathering begins.
6:30pm: PRAYER (led by Father Stanislaw Jankowski, followed by candlelight vigil/PROCESSION out to train tracks behind the Copernicus Center).
6:50-7pm: Return to the building
7:10/7:15pm: Father Jankowski HONORS those loved ones (of people participating in the event) who had perished in Siberia and will lead others by PLACING small cards with their names onto a memorable poster.
7:25pm: Flowers will be placed under the names of the deported by survivors and/or scouts
7:35pm: CHORUS CHOPIN performs
7:40pm: Speeches by Mr.Greg Archer (author of Grace Revealed), Siberia Society USA and a survivor.
8pm: Artistic program from the students of Gen. W. Anders Polish School
8:30pm: 15-18 min video about the historic events and the resilience of our Polish comrades.
8:55pm: Closing song by Ola Podowski
** This event is a precursor to a banquet commemorating the 75th anniversary of the mass deportations, which takes place at 1pm Sunday Feb. 15 at White Eagle Restaurant
