American Music Festivals presents the award winning Lincolnwood Chamber Orchestra in a concert of international classical and sevdah music in the Copernicus Center Annex on Tuesday, November 25 at 7:30PM.
Philip Simmons leads the orchestra in works by Anton Rubinstein, Camille Saint-Saens, Edward Elgar, Franciscus Bossinensis, Dragan Suplevski, and traditional Bosnian folk songs with vocalist Samir Hadzalic.
The program is dedicated to the legacy of the Dr. Himzo Polovina and will include three of his most beloved sevdah songs: “Emina,” “Bembasa,” and “U lijepom starom gradu Visegradu” masterfully arranged for orchestra by Ilya Levinson.
Falling on the Bosnia and Herzegovina Statehood Anniversary, this program represents American Music Festivals 6th concert collaboration with the B&H community. American Music Festivals is a nonprofit committed to cultural exchange, and works with numerous ethnic communities in Chicago, Hawaii, and throughout the world.
