Based on the popularity and success of our first pastorela last year, Ballet Folklorico de Chicago would like to invite you for our next edition of Tradiciones de Mexico. What is a pastorela you ask? A Pastorela is a nativity production during the month of December before Christmas. Here you will see the re-telling of the birth of Jesus, with key characters and animals. In Mexico this is a yearly tradition that is presented at the end of each calendar year, before students leave for the holiday break. It is a special time that is celebrated together with family and friends. Ballet Folklorico de Chicago will continue to honor this tradition and add a twist by including our own special touches, humor and creativity. In addition to the play, you will also see Mexican folk dances from various different regions. The event will be held at the Copernicus Center on Sunday, December 7, 2024 from 12:00 pm to 2 pm.
