The story is set in the Italian town of Volterra, a tightly knit community where everyone knows and respects each other. Maria, a Polish poet, lives nearby in a small hilltop house. A Nobel Prize winner, she is considered a moral authority. Her life follows the rhythm of the Italian countryside until she receives the news of a shocking and tragic event. At a ceremony making her an honorary citizen of the Volterra, Instead of graciously saying thank you, she is driven by emotion to give a speech that is shockingly politically incorrect. From this moment on she will experience the unpleasant consequences of this unfortunate public appearance.
Miejscem akcji filmu jest etruskie miasto Volterra. Wszyscy się tu znają i szanują. Na niewielkim wzgórzu stoi dom Marii – polskiej poetki, laureatki Nagrody Nobla, autorytetu moralnego. Jej życie toczy się w rytmie włoskiej prowincji, jednak zostaje wywrócone do góry nogami, gdy otrzymuje ona wiadomość o tragicznym wydarzeniu. Pod wpływem emocji, podczas uroczystości nadania tytułu honorowego obywatela miasta, zamiast kurtuazyjnych podziękowań Maria wygłasza szokująco niepoprawną politycznie mowę. Od tego momentu bohaterka będzie doświadczać dotkliwych konsekwencji swojego wystąpienia.

Born in in 1970 in Kwidzyń. He is a director, screenwriter, and actor. He graduated in philosophy at Warsaw University and acting at Theater Academy in Warsaw. His film “All That I Love” screened at the Busan International Film Festival, the International Film Festival Rotterdam, the 2010 Sundance Film Festival, and other festivals. His film “Lasting” won the World Cinema Dramatic Cinematography Award at the 2013 Sundance Film Festival.
