Początek lat 60. U szczytu kryzysu kubańskiego, amerykańskie tajne służby porywają wybitnego matematyka, Joshuę Mansky’ego. Nadużywający alkoholu zapomniany geniusz ma wystąpić w szachowym pojedynku przeciwko sowieckiemu mistrzowi Gawryłowowi na międzynarodowym turnieju w warszawskim Pałacu Kultury i Nauki. Rywalizacja jest jednak tylko przykrywką do szpiegowskiej rozgrywki. Kiedy sojusznicy okazują się wrogami i nie wiadomo, komu naprawdę ufać, Mansky musi wykonać decydujący ruch mający powstrzymać konflikt nuklearny.
THE COLDEST GAME
ENGLISH: It’s the beginning of the 1960’s. At the height of the Cuban crisis, American secret services kidnap the outstanding mathematician Joshua Mansky ( Bill Pullman). An alcohol-abusing forgotten genius is to appear in a chess duel against the Soviet champion Gawryłow at an international tournament at the Palace of Culture and Science in Warsaw. The competition, however, is only a cover for espionage. When allies turn out to be enemies and it is not known who to really trust, Mansky must make a decisive move to stop the nuclear conflict.
