The Flock, a group of 20 women live in the secluded Pacific Northwest. The patriarch of their all-female cult is the Shephard. The women worship him with their bodies as well as their faith, as testified by the number of exclusively female children they’ve brought into the tribe.

Life with Shephard is the only life Selah has ever known. Their self-sufficient community possesses no modern technology, and is hidden away in the woods, far from modern civilization. Shephard is the group’s guardian, teacher and lover. Each of the many female members of the group is either his wife or daughter. Selah is pure in faith, but also dangerously headstrong. She was raised as a daughter of Shephard, but it is only a matter of time before she stands to become a wife.

As an encounter with the authorities forces women and Selah to build a new Eden further inland, Selah increasingly doubts her faith, and has strange, bloody visions. The onset of puberty brings with it harsh new rituals, and her first shocking glimpse of what happens to Shephard’s women as they age.

“Trzódka”, grupa 20 kobiet żyje w północnozachodniej części Stanów Zjednoczonych. Słońcem ich planety jest “Pasterz”. W uwielbieniu kobiety ofiarują mu swoje ciała i wiarę, a wyrazem tego są rodzące się tam wyłącznie dziewczynki.

Życie z Pasterzem jest jedynym, które zna młoda Selah. Ich samowystarczalna społeczność ukryta w lesie, z dala od cywilizowanego świata nie zna współczesnej techniki. Pasterz jest tu opiekunem, nauczycielem, kochankiem. Każda z członkiń tej grupy jest albo jego żoną albo córką.Wiara Salah jest nieskażona, ale jest ona jednocześnie niebezpiecznie nieustępliwa. Dziewczyna została wychowana jako córka Pasterza, ale jest jedynie kwestią czasu kiedy zostanie jego żoną.

Zatarg z władzami zmusza kobiety, w tym Selah do budowania nowego Edenu jeszcze głębiej w ukryciu. Selah ma coraz więcej wątpliwości odnośnie swojej wiary, do czego dochodzą jeszcze dziwne, krwawe wizje. Początek jej dojrzewania płciowego niesie za sobą nowe, surowe rytuały, dając zarazem szokujące pojęcie o tym, co dzieje się z wiekiem z kobietami Pasterza.

Director and screenwriter. Born in 1973 in Kracow. Studied a History of Art at Jagiellonian University in Kracow for two years. Graduated from the Directing Department of the National Film School in Łódź (1998). Recipient of many prestigious awards. She won the Silver Bear for Best Director for “Body” and for “Mug” (Berlin International Film Festival 2015 & 2018). In 2015 she was awarded the Gold Cross of Merit – the highest civilian award in Poland. Member of European Film Academy.
